All military services provide legal assistance to recruited personnel and their families, but only if sufficient resources are available. Visit ABA Home Front or the Armed Forces Legal Assistance website for more information. The Disability Rights Legal Center (DRLC) is the oldest program that defends the rights of people with disabilities by providing free legal assistance to people with disabilities who are discriminated against in violation of their civil rights. The program brings effective and visible cases to state and federal courts to protect and expand the rights of this community. These cutting-edge cases raise awareness and enable people with disabilities to participate fully in society throughout their lives. DRLC`s advocacy program also aims to remove barriers to the full participation of persons with disabilities in schools, health care facilities, prisons and public spaces. Rolling Legal Services – Bring free legal services to your community. Our innovative legal aid basket brings lawyers into local communities that have historically been underserved. For many populations, such as geographically isolated people, people with disabilities and survivors of intimate partner violence, access to free, quality legal services may be out of reach. Disability Rights New York (DRNY) provides legal assistance to people with disabilities.

DRNY`s mission is to protect and promote the rights of adults and children with disabilities so that they can freely exercise their own life choices, assert their rights and participate fully in community life. DRNY fulfills this mission in a variety of ways: through advocacy, coalition building, litigation and public information. In addition, DRNY provides technical support to other lawyers for people with disabilities in New York City. The Minnesota Disability Law Center (MDLC) provides free civil legal advice on legal issues related to their disability to people with disabilities nationwide, regardless of age or income. Provides a hotline, no real legal representation is provided. ADA regional centers do not offer direct referrals from lawyers. The National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) is the non-profit organization that brings together government-mandated protection and advocacy (P&A) systems and client assistance programs (CAPs). There is a P&A/CAP agency in every U.S. state and territory, as well as an agency that serves the Native American population of the Four Corners region. Overall, P&A/CAP is the largest provider of legally sound advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States. To find your local protection and advocacy agency and customer support program in each state, visit – www.ndrn.org/en/ndrn-member-agencies.html. Your state or local bar association can also be a good starting point for legal advice or representation.

To find your local bar association, go to www.americanbar.org/ or call 1-800-285-2221 We provide free or low-cost legal advice to people with disabilities whose civil or human rights have been violated. We offer multiple levels of service: To learn more about legal issues and to find fact sheets and other resources from the Minnesota Disability Law Center, visit www.lawhelpmn.org and learn more about the MDLC`s current priorities. We have received complaints of persistent and serious problems with the Access Services (“Access”) from members of our community. In an effort to provide additional support to our community, help us better understand these issues and try to address them by completing this survey. These four goals are part of MDLC`s 5-year strategic plan. To comment on the plan, please email mndlc@mylegalaid.org.
